How to get FREE Compost or Mulch for your Vegetable Garden

One of the things I noticed when I first got into wanting to create my vegetable garden is all the stuff you “need to buy.” I personally came to realize you can create a raised bed on limited funds. If you need smaller containers for planting, and getting your germinated seeds off to a good start, try the dollar store. They have a lot of small containers for great prices, you just need to get creative when it comes to planting pots.

Check the county you live in to see if the compost is free or cheaper. Mine was free for both compost and mulch, but I will be sticking to compost only for my garden bed, and mulch, leaves and sticks on the ground outside the bed once I'm done. I’ve watched several youtube videos and garden blogs over the past week, and the once thing every garden need is compost, as long as it’s loose and no compacted, and WORMS! God had stuff growing before we ever showed up with your ways of doing things, so I’m just going to do my best to keep it simple. Put back in the dirt what grew out of it.

Free free to read about compost from the city for vegetable gardens. I’ve already done my research, and I’m moving forward. If you have something awesome to share about growing your own vegetables, please feel free to share in the comment section below. Also feel to look for Free Soil or Mulch on Craigslist.com. Disclosure:  Use Craigslist at your own discretion. I hope this video is helpful for someone out there on a budget.

How to put up a Clothesline Outdoors or Indoors + Tips

I wanted to put up a clothesline first because it is one of the most used things in my home. I'm going to work to create an indoor one to go over the tub for rainy days. This is a huge start to cutting back on my electrical bill to help save money, and put it towards other projects I want to work on.

You can do this indoors as well, you just need a stud finder to make sure you're not drilling through electrical wires. Super easy to use.

What's my goal with this new blog on Urban Homesteading?

Well, I've been running into situations where I realized, I spend way too much on things that I could save for stuff that really matters. For example, if I wanted to go on vacation or buy a home, or even take those funds to do better on creating a savings for unforeseen situations. In choosing to start living this way, I want to share what I'm learning along the ways, both my trials, errors and solutions to whatever it is I face. I hope you will choose to join me in changing your life in small ways as well.

If you want change, you've got to become the change.
